Blue Ridge Legal Services, Inc. (BRLS) is a nonprofit charitable civil legal aid program providing free legal assistance in civil matters of critical importance to low-income residents of the Shenandoah Valley and Roanoke Valley.
Our mission is premised on the recognition that the American ideal of “Equal Justice for All” can be achieved only if we provide the poor meaningful access to our judicial system.

Approximately 25% of Virginians fall below 200% of the poverty line. Among these individuals, three out of four will encounter legal issues within the next 12 months, yet they lack the means to afford legal representation. Your donation plays a crucial role in supporting legal assistance for various critical matters, including:
- Securing restraining orders and handling divorces for victims of domestic violence.
- Providing protection for the elderly against nursing home or Medicaid-related problems.
- Offering a lifeline to those grappling with predatory lending and other debt-related challenges.
- Preventing homelessness through eviction and substandard housing litigation.
BRLS (Blue Ridge Legal Services) is firmly dedicated to eradicating inequities stemming from poverty within the civil justice system.
